Did Alabama or Auburn make Jordan Ross’ top 8?

One of the top rising senior recruits in the state, Vestavia Hills’ EDGE Jordan Ross, has narrowed his list of colleges to eight.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Ross is ranked No. 1 in Alabama’s Class of 2024, according to the latest Top 247 rankings. He is No. 4 on the On3 rankings.

On Wednesday, Ross dropped a top eight. The list included in-state power Alabama but did not include Auburn. His other seven schools were Texas, LSU, Southern Cal, Georgia, Florida, Oregon and Tennessee.

“Jordan is the top-ranked recruit in the history of Vestavia Hills High School,” Vestavia coach Robert Evans told AL.com recently. “We’ve never had a guy that has been as nationally prominent as Jordan, especially in the age of social media. He’s handled it all well. He’s looking for a good relationship and connection with college coaches, and he has that with several schools. Hopefully, he can make a decision this summer and enjoy his senior year.”

Evans said Ross has barely scratched the surface of how good he can be. A year ago, he had 49 tackles, including 16 tackles for a loss, and 2.5 sacks for the Rebels. He also added several forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns.

“In 3-4 years, he could be a 6-5, 250-pound EDGE who is still running the same speed, and those guys do really well,” Evans said. “I’m not trying to put any added pressure on him, but he would blow the NFL Combine away if he went there right now just as far as his measurables are concerned.”

Ross is the No. 12 rising senior recruit in the nation, according to 247, and No. 2 at his position behind only Tucson’s Elijah Rushing.
