Derick Hall enjoys Pro Day at Auburn

Derick Hall put on an orange and blue uniform on Auburn’s campus for the last time Tuesday during Auburn’s Pro Day. He did defensive line and linebacker drills in front of scouts, coaches, and executives from 32 National Football League teams.

Hall is projected on mock drafts from various publications as a late first-rounder to an early second-rounder. Versatility to play with his hand in the dirt or as a standing rusher is intriguing to several teams.

“We love his motor,” an NFC West scout said. “He’s a talented athlete who’s willing to adjust.”

He smiled when asked about returning to the Plains to workout with his college teammates.

“It’s a very special place to my family and me,” Hall told reporters. “My mom dropped me off here as a 17-year-old boy, and I just turned 22, leaving here on Pro Day. I feel like this day has been great for my family and me, and we’re looking forward to returning every opportunity we get.”

Hall played in 47 games from 2019-22 and posted 146 total tackles, 19.5 sacks, and forced five fumbles. He will watch the NFL Draft with his family in Gulfport, Ms at a large party.

“I’m very content. My heart is full of joy,” Hall said. “The hard part is over. To be able to go out and put my best foot forward and really try to showcase my talent and my versatility and what I can do. My heart is full of joy. I’m content. I feel like I put my best showcase on the field — not only at the Senior Bowl, but at the combine and also here. I’m very pleased with my performance in all three phases of those events.”

It wasn’t all about Hall. He also took time to show love to teammates Eku Leota and Colby Wooden.

“I had an opportunity to train with ‘Ku. I was going to different locations, and he begged me to come down to EXOS in Florida,” Hall said. “I really, really enjoyed it. Having an opportunity to train with him and meet other guys and go through that process together was really special for us, because of the step back that he took in the season when he got that injury with his pec.”

“But Colby, man, his work speaks for him. We came in together. We’ve seen each other grow. We’ve seen each other get better on a day-to-day basis and every single year. It was very, very special, and I feel like those guys are going to be playing a long, long time in the NFL.”
