Deontay Wilder arrested on gun charge after routine traffic stop, per report
Boxer Deontay Wilder was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of a concealed weapon in Los Angeles after a routine traffic stop.
TMZ reports, citing sources, Wilder – a Tuscaloosa native – was pulled over around 1:15 a.m. by LAPD because his Rolls-Royce’s windows were illegally tinted. His license plate also was obstructed.
Police did a search of the vehicle after smelling burnt marijuana, and, according to sources, weed and a 9mm were found.
Wilder, 37, bonded out at 6:34 a.m.
Anthony Joshua confirmed over the weekend he plans to fight Wilder (43-2-1 with 42 knockouts) in December, per The Express. Joshua, 33, is coming off a win over Jermaine Franklin.
Wilder hasn’t fought since October in a win over Robert Helenius. Before that, Wilder was coming back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury.
