Deontae Lawson injury: Alabama captain leaves Oklahoma game

Alabama football captain Deontae Lawson sustained an injury in the second quarter against Oklahoma.

He is out for the game with a lower-extremity injury, per a UA spokesperson.

The linebacker, who also wears the green dot helmet to hear from defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, tried to get up after making a tackle against the Sooners. But Lawson had to go to the ground and wait for the training staff.

He walked to the sideline with the help of two members of the training staff. Then Lawson went to the medical tent, where he stayed for 12 minutes. Fellow captain Malachi Moore appeared to stop by to check on Lawson during that time. Trainer Jeff Allen went to speak to several members of the staff while Lawson was in the tent, including Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer.

After 12 minutes in the medical tent, Lawson walked to the locker room with members of the training staff.

Justin Jefferson replaced Lawson on defense.

Lawson, a Mobile native, entered the game with 74 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.
