Delta flight from Atlanta diverted after passenger has diarrhea ‘all the way through the plane’

A change of plans had to be made when a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta, Georgia, to Barcelona, Spain, was diverted back after a passenger experienced an “onboard medical issue,” which was a case of “diarrhea all the way through the plane.”

Delta Flight DL194 was on its way from Atlanta to Barcelona Friday evening. The plane left Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport just before 8:30 p.m., according to media reports.

The website FlightRadar24.com reported that the flight was about two hours into its eight hour flight when it turned over in Virginia and made its way back to Atlanta. As a result, they were back on the ground by 10:40 p.m. without further incident.

There were 336 passengers onboard the flight, Fox News Digital reported.

A snippet of the pilot’s call was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. The audio recorded from the Airbus A350 was broadcast on LiveATC.com, both Fox News Digital and Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

“It’s just a biohazard issue,” the pilot is heard saying over the radio in the snippet. “We’ve had a passenger who had diarrhea all throughout the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.”

According to a Delta spokesperson, there was no emergency landing due to the biohazard situation, but the flight did return to its original airport.

Also, Delta did not confirm the incident in detail, Fox News Digital and Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

“Delta flight 194 from Atlanta to Barcelona returned to Atlanta following an onboard medical issue,” the spokesperson said. “Our teams worked as quickly and safely as possible to get our customers to their final destination. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience to their travel plans.”
