A Valley Head teen has been reported missing for almost a month as search efforts continue.

According to the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Makenna Joy Purvis was last seen on September 26, 2022.

Fischer Rescue Team, Valley Head Police Department, Mentone Police Department, DeKalb County EMA and other local fire departments all assisted in the initial search in a wooded area in which Purvis was last seen.

There was no sign of Makenna in the area, according to officials.

Fischer Rescue also had members from Athens, Murfreesboro, Tenn. and north Alabama areas along with two canine search teams looking for Purvis.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to let Makenna know, she is not in any trouble at all,” a social media post said. “We only want to see Makenna back safe with the family and friends that love her so dearly.”

Purvis is 5-feet 6-inches tall, weighs about 100-120 pounds and has red hair with hazel eyes.

Those with any information pertaining to the whereabouts of Purvis are asked to call the DeKalb County Alabama Sheriff’s Office at 256-845-3801 or the Investigation Office at 256-845-8562.
