Deion Sanders warned by doctors to slow down, faces potential foot amputation
Deion Sanders continues to deal with medical issues, and doctors are warning him to slow down.
The Colorado coach shared on social media he has continued to deal with blood flow problems in his feet. Sanders already has had two toes amputated on his left foot, and he received some sobering news at the Colorado football facility in which his medical team discussed his health.
Vascular surgeon Donald Jacobs told Colorado athletic trainer Lauren Askevold of Sanders, “He could lose the foot.”
Sanders has been told the blood in his lower leg is now only about two-thirds the blood pressure in his arm.
“So those arteries have shut down,” Wohlauer said.
Sanders, 55, had to miss three games when he was the coach at Jackson State during the 2021 season because of complications from a previous foot surgery.
“As you know, I’ve faced some medical issues with my foot, but I’ve never said ‘WHY ME,’” Sanders wrote on social media. “I keep moving forward, progressing … See you never know what a person may be going through while I sit in your seat of judgement, but you can trust and believe that we are all going through something — just keep the faith and know that if He brought you to it, He will bring you through it … I’m Coach Prime and I’m built for this.”
