Declines aplenty but Huntsville-area stocks see gains
The majority of the stocks on our list took hits Wednesday as the markets came back from the holiday break.
Science Applications International Corporation had a decent day, though, considering. It crept up .9%. According to its website, “SAIC is a premier Fortune 500 technology integrator driving our nation’s digital transformation.” Its “robust portfolio of offerings across the defense, space, civilian and intelligence markets includes secure high-end solutions in engineering, IT modernization and mission solutions.” It has five locations in Huntsville.
Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, the California-based company with an operating location in Huntsville and an Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Toney, saw an increase of .8%.
Hexcel, another area stock of note, also rose .8%.
The Southern Company led our list, rising a modest 1.6%. The American gas and electric utility holding company based in the southern United States is headquartered in Atlanta and has executive offices also located in Birmingham.
