Deadlines near to receive absentee ballot in Alabama

Alabama voters who want to cast an absentee ballot in the Nov. 8 election are running out of time to obtain their ballots.

Tuesday is the last day for absentee election managers in each county to receive applications for absentee ballots by mail. Voters will have two more days, through Thursday, to apply for an absentee ballot in person at their county absentee election manager’s office.

Voters can download absentee ballot applications, see where to find and how to contact their county’s absentee election manager, and learn more about absentee voting on the secretary of state’s website.

Voters who want to return their absentee ballots by hand have until the end of the business day Nov. 7 to deliver them to their absentee election manager’s office. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by the absentee election manager no later than noon on Nov. 8.

Voters who are eligible to vote under the Uniformed and Overseas Absentee Voting Act have until Nov. 8, 2022 to postmark an absentee ballot.

The absentee voting period in Alabama started Sept. 14.
