Danville man dead after vehicle goes over bridge, crashes in Tennessee River
A Danville man is dead after his vehicle went over the Hudson Memorial Bridge and was found by Decatur officers early Saturday in the Tennessee River.
Michael Gene Knable, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn after Decatur Police were dispatched to the bridge on Highway 31 at approximately 1:50 a.m. because of reports of debris on the roadway.
“Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the guardrail and a vehicle partially submerged in the Tennessee River,” Decatur police public information officer Irene Cardenas-Martinez said in a statement.
Law enforcement determined that Knable was traveling south when his vehicle went through the guardrail and into the Tennessee River.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the Decatur Police.
