Damar Hamlin charity raises $4.4 million after critical injury; jersey sales skyrocket
Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin remains in ICU on Tuesday in critical condition, a day after the safety collapsed in a game against Cincinnati.
Fans continue to show their support for Bills safety as his community toy drive – The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive – has raised more than $4.4 million since Hamlin’s injury.
The initial goal was to raise $2,500. The drive raised more than $700,000 in the first hour after Hamlin’s collapse on the field went viral and surpassed $1 million soon after. As of this posting, there have been more than 161,000 donations to the cause.
In addition, Hamlin’s jersey is now in the No. 2 position in Fanatics’ Bills jerseys Top Sellers category and is listed as the most popular in Bills jerseys. The jersey, along with the women’s version, can be found here.
The Hamlin family asked fans Tuesday to continue to pray for him and thanked first responders for their response to the situation through a released statement.
Monday night’s postponed Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game won’t be completed this week, the NFL announced Tuesday.
