‘Daggers to the pigs!’: Listen to Alabama radio’s incredible call in Tide’s win at Arkansas
Fans who enjoyed ESPN’s improvised experiment letting college basketball analysts Jay Bilas and Jimmy Dykes handle play-by-play duties during Alabama’s 84-69 win at Arkansas sadly missed out another classic call from Tide’s home broadcast team.
Fresh off of finishing his substitute work as Bama football’s radio host (in Eli Gold’s absence) and much like the team he narrates, Stewart is in midseason form, punctuated by his illustrative performance as Nate Oats’ squad went on a 9-0 run to all but seal the deal in Fayetteville.

After the Tide blew a 12-point second-half lead, which shrunk to 65-63 with 4:45 left, they drew up a beauty of a play that found Noah Clowney for an open corner three-pointer. “Bottom!” Stewart exclaimed. “Mercy, what a make!”
A Hog turnover set the Tide up to find Brandon Miller at the top of the key where he hit another. The freshman superstar began heating up, and so did Stewart. “Brandon…three…bottom! Back-to-back threes for Alabama!”
On the next possession, Mark Sears stole it back as Bama found Miller for their third straight triple. Stewart called it beautifully.
“Oh, do it baby!” he shouted. “Three for three for Alabama in the last 90 seconds! Daggers to the pigs here in Fayetteville with 3:42 to go…”
Stewart even remarked online after a fan shared the broadcast snippet on Twitter, adding Stewart’s words on top of footage from the game. “Winning is fun,” the announcer wrote, quote-tweeting the video.

Stewart continues an impressive broadcasting run after Alabama announced last August that Eli Gold, the longtime voice of the Crimson Tide, would be sidelined to start the season due to health issues. Stewart, the play-by-play man for Alabama basketball and other sports, took that seat in the booth and would even pay special tribute to Gold during Alabama’s first touchdown of the 2022 season.
Gold announced in January he was diagnosed with “a treatable form of cancer,” via social media.
