Current, former Alabama players react to Darius Miles arrest

The news of now-former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles’ arrest on murder charges drew quick responses from the school and athletics department.

Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats will meet with reporters Monday in advance of Tuesday’s game at Vanderbilt but his current and former teammates had social media to react to the events of Sunday.

Of the posts, most were short and Jahvon Quinerly was the only current teammate who posted on the matter.

A few former teammates who transferred after last season weighed in from their new schools. Britton Johnson, a former walk-on who is now at Samford, posted Sunday night.

Alex Tschikou, now at Rhode Island, posted soon after the news broke.

When a fan mentioned remembering the victim and her family, he responded with “that too!” and a praying hands emoji.

And at Georgia, Jusaun Holt posted a broken heart emoji while quoting a video of Miles’ tearful walk to a police car following his arrest.

Miles and 20-year-old Michael Lynn Davis are charged with the murder of Jamea Jonae Harris, of Birmingham. The 23-year-old mother was shot and killed early Sunday morning just off The Strip on University Boulevard near the Alabama campus.
