Cunningham Bounds Coastal Week 9 choice is first repeat winner
As the regular season winds down, AL.com voters have selected the first repeat winner in Cunningham Bounds Coastal Player of the Week balloting.
Davidson running back D.J. Butler was the top vote-getter in Week 9 with 35 percent of the 5,908 ballots cast in the poll. Butler ran for 315 yards and four touchdowns as the Warriors topped Foley 52-41. Davidson, running its single-wing offense, improved to 4-4 on the year.
Jerrian Graham of Vigor finished second with 23 percent of the vote. Graham, a University of South Alabama commitment, threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns as the Wolves beat Elberta 46-7 to improve to 6-2 on the year. He was also 7-of-11 passing and scored a TD on a 2-yard run.
Clarke County senior A.J. Ezell was third in the poll after running for 120 yards and scoring four touchdowns as the Bulldogs rolled past St. Luke’s 54-7.
Voting for the Cunningham Bounds Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.
In Week 9, more than 32,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
