Couple dead in Irondale murder-suicide now identified

Authorities have released the name of a couple found dead Friday in an apparent murder-suicide.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified them as Jennifer Lee Salvadori, 52, and Billy Code Jewell, 51.

Their bodies were discovered about 9:15 a.m. Friday inside a residence in the 300 block of Meadows Drive. That location is an apartment complex off Edwards Lake Road.

Irondale police went to the apartment after a co-worker of Salvador became concerned when she did not show up for work, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.

Once at the apartment, officers found Salvadori and Jewell unresponsive from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead on the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Authorities believe Jewell shot Salvadori, and then turned the gun on himself. It wasn’t immediately clear when the shootings took place.

Police said the two were in a dating relationship.

The investigation is ongoing.
