Country singer updates fans on cancer battle during chemo session
The Mavericks frontman Raul Malo, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this summer, gave fans an update over social media.
“First of all thank you all for the encouraging words and kind messages that have come my way,” Malo wrote. “You all have made me feel stronger than ever in spite of my weakened state. The love and compassion shown to me in the last month has not only been touching, it has been beautifully overwhelming. I thank you and my family thanks you.
“Round #2 is history now. Doctors are pleased with my progress. All the bloodwork and health signs are pointing in the right direction. The only side effect this week was just an overwhelming sensation to lay down and do nothing. Which is just about impossible for me but I’m managing… lol. Today on Saturday, I’m feeling really good and I’m probably going to take my dogs for a walk, play some guitar, etc.
“Thank you all. And remember to get yourself checked out by your doctor. Don’t put it off any longer. Have a great weekend. See you all soon… RM.”
The performer, 58, revealed his diagnosis in June.
