Country music star’s father dead at 89: ‘It was a blessing to have my daddy’

Colt Ford announced on social media Wednesday that his father Paul Brown died Tuesday at 89.

“It was a blessing to have my daddy,” he said.

“And he just eased off. Was a Blessing to have my Daddy for 89 years. Last night he went Home to be with the Lord. Thank Y’all for all the Prayers. Love Y’all.”

According to Taste of Country, Paul Brown died holding the hand of his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth.

The country music star took to social media to acknowledge a milestone.

It’s been an emotional month for Ford. This month marks the one-year anniversary of his heart attack.

“About this time last year, I had just died … twice,” he said in a video posted on Instagram. “And tonight, a year later, I just played a full show in North Carolina, and it was amazing. And you guys are still here, and I love y’all so freaking much.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We ain’t done yet, baby.”

Last April, Ford told “Big D & Bubba” he’d just got back to his bus and texted his fiancée as the heart attack began. He had canceled shows through August.

Ford, 55, said he died “multiple times.” The country music singer has been on tour with Brantley Gilbert.
