Country music star posts emotional tribute after wife’s death

Duane Allen of The Oak Ridge Boys posted an emotional message to social media after his wife’s death.

Norah Lee Allen died on Easter after battling an illness for “an extended period of time.”

Duane Allen posted to The Oak Ridge Boys’ Facebook page over the weekend, thanking fans for and being “so overwhelmed with all of your love, support, and prayers, since my Norah Lee went to her new home.”

Duane Allen’s lengthy post is below:

“I am so humbled and honored that you are here. I have been so overwhelmed with all of your love, support, and prayers, since my Norah Lee went to her new home. My big old home is filled with memories of everything that she put there. Our home was her castle. She has things that have been collected for over six decades, and even further as she collected things from her parents and grandparents, and so did I. It is so hard sifting through all of the memories that each mean so much to me and her, but now, there is only me to enjoy it.

“I do have my precious family, and we are beginning to organize each piece and deep clean every inch of our big home. Every photo, trinket, award, photo, memory and keep sake is being handled with kid gloves. The first thing I did was get a family friend to deep clean everything from floor to ceiling and everything in between. I want to preserve the life of my beautiful wife and her career, as well as our family history. I don’t know where this will lead, but I can assure you that every memory is being kept with love and care.

“There are times when I just did break down when I find a drawer with enough money that the kids always had money to buy lunch at school. Now, the grandkids have found the drawer. So happy that we could always provide for them the support you wonderful people gave by buying our products and coming to see our shows. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have had a hard time even finishing sentences without crying since I lost the most beautiful lady I ever met, the love of my life.

“I’m so thankful to God almighty for letting me share her for 54 years and eight months of the happiest years of my life. She was the love of my life.”

The post has gone viral with more than 4,200 likes and times and nearly 700 comments.

At the time Allen announced Norah Lee Allen’s death, it was also announced singer Richard Sterban’s wife, Donna, lost her father, too.

“Prayers for her family at this time of loss,” read a statement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Quite a memorable Easter. The good news is the promise of eternity with Jesus, who conquered death that we may live.”

Meanwhile, Phyllis Carr, the wife of longtime guitarist Donnie Carr, died in March.
