Country music icon remembers recently deceased actor
Dolly Parton is among the many in the entertainment industry mourning the death of actor Dabney Coleman across the past couple of days, and the list of those heartbroken by his loss includes country music legend Dolly Parton.
The singer, 78, worked with Dabney in “9 to 5,″ the 1980 movie.
On Monday, Parton took to Instagram to express a heartfelt message about Coleman, who died at his home in Santa Monica.
“Dabney was a great actor and became a dear friend,” she posted. “He taught me so much when I was doing my first move, 9 to 5. He was funny, deep and smart.
“We remained friends through the years, and I will greatly miss him, as many people will. Love Dolly.”
Coleman’s daughter, singer Quincy Coleman, expressed her feelings about the loss of her father when confirming to the news of The Hollywood Reporter.
“My father crafted his time here on Earth with a curious mind, a generous heart and a soul on fire with passion, desire and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “As he lived, he moved through this final act of his life with elegance, excellence and mastery.
“A teacher, a hero and a king, Dabney Coleman is a gift and blessing in life and in death as his spirit will shine through his work, his loved ones and his legacy … eternally.”
