Country music icon drops out of new Netflix drama
Tim McGraw has dropped out of a Netflix project due to an upcoming back surgery.
“Deadline” reports the country singer – and actor – the surgery will result in significant recovery time. According to the report, citing sources, McGraw had surgery on both knees in August of 2024 after suffering an injury that forced him to cancel the remaining portion of his 2024 tour.
In May, the country music sensation signed on to take on the role of a professional bull rider.
“Tim McGraw will star in a new drama series set in the fierce, competitive world of bull riding,” Netflix posted at the time on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “The series follows a megastar champion (McGraw) facing a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider, whose very existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past.”
McGraw also posted a photo of a script, and wrote, “This is nothing like I’ve ever done before… So excited for you to see what we’ve been working on!! Coming soon on (Netflix).”
In addition to being a top country musician, McGraw starred in the “Yellowstone” prequel series “1883″ as well as cameo appearances in two episodes of “Yellowstone.”
