Country legend’s widow accuses ex-partner of stealing millions in cash, crypto
Nancy Jones, the widow of country music star George Jones, says her former longtime romantic partner stole from her.
Kirk West, 58, was arrested at the Nashville International Airport on July 24 for allegedly stealing millions of dollars in cash and cryptocurrency from Jones, the website Parade reports.
Jones, 72, filed a report on July 23 stating that West had stolen $400,000 in cash and a Ledger cryptocurrency wallet from a safe in her home in Franklin, Tennessee, around June 26, WKRN reported. The cryptocurrency stolen was worth more than $11.6 million, The Tennessean reported earlier this week.
Jones had kicked West out after suspecting he was cheating on her, the TV outlet reported. Her granddaughter discovered that money was missing from the safe. Jones and West were the only people who knew the passwords, according to the report.
West has been charged with a Class A felony. In 2016, he pleaded guilty to bank fraud in a federal case. According to WKRN, West allegedly met Jones when she put her home on the market shortly after her husband died in 2013.
He expressed interest in purchasing the home. A court affidavit states she later allowed him to move in and supported him, according to media reports.
