Could Dollar Tree raise its prices again?
Could another price hike be in the works at Dollar Tree?
The discount retailer may be exploring its options in the wake of the upcoming Trump tariffs.
So far, Dollar Tree CEO Michael Creedon says he doesn’t know how the tariffs will impact the company, but they are making preparations, according to a report from the U.S. Sun.
One way customers might see the changes is in Dollar Tree’s price tiers. In 2024, Dollar Tree added 300 items priced between $1.50 and $7 in more than 3,000 stores, the biggest price increase since the retailer started charging $1.25 for its items in 2021.
The company could add more items over $1.25 to offset the effects of the tariffs.
“In terms of the different price points, we look at that value,” explained Creedon, according to the U.S. Sun. “We look at convenience and we look at discovery and we say where can we offer that and maybe move on some pricing as part of not just tariffs, but an inflationary cost environment that we’ve got to mitigate.”
Dollar Tree recently announced it will sell its Family Dollar business for about $1 billion, a fraction of what it paid for the chain 10 years ago.
