A Cottondale man was killed this weekend in a single-vehicle crash.

Reyes M. Lugo, 27, was fatally injured when the 1995 Ford F-150 pickup he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. on Clements Road, approximately 4 miles north of Tuscaloosa, in Tuscaloosa County.

According to the report from ALEA, Lugo was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
