Cooler temperatures coming to Alabama, and some rain
Lower temperatures are in the forecast for Alabama starting today and especially on Thursday, and they are expected to last into the weekend.
In fact, by this weekend parts of north Alabama could dip into the low 50s for overnight lows.
There’s one warmer day to get through first, but for a change there are no 90s in the forecast for Alabama.
The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures to again climb into the upper 80s across Alabama — even south Alabama, which has had to deal with upper 90s over the past few days. (The forecast for today is at the top of this post.)
Look for even “cooler” temperatures for south and parts of central Alabama on Thursday, when rain and clouds will assist in keeping the mercury lower.
Highs on Thursday could touch 90 degrees in north Alabama, which is expected to miss out on the rain. But south Alabama and the southern parts of central Alabama could possibly not make it out of the 70s.

Not all of the state will get rain tomorrow. The weather service thinks areas south of the Interstate 20 corridor have the best shot, and north Alabama could miss out entirely.

Cooler temperatures (in the 70s and 80s) are expected to hang around through the weekend before beginning to rise again next Monday.
The nights will also be much cooler, with the coolest ones expected to come on Saturday and Sunday nights, when some spots in north Alabama will get close to the 40s for lows.
