Cool start to May: More cooler weather ahead?
May started out on a rather cool note, and is there more to come?
There were not any record low temperatures set on Monday morning, but lows were definitely below what’s typical for this time of year.

Anniston: 47 degrees
Auburn: 50 degrees
Birmingham: 48 degrees
Dothan: 52 degrees
Gadsden: 40 degrees
Greenville: 46 degrees
Haleyville: 38 degrees
Huntsville: 45 degrees
Mobile: 59 degrees
Montgomery: 49 degrees
Muscle Shoals: 43 degrees
Troy: 49 degrees
Tuscaloosa: 47 degrees
What are average temperatures for this point in the year?
North Alabama: Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low to mid-50s.
Central Alabama: Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and lows in the mid- to upper 50s.
South Alabama: Highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s.
High temperatures are expected to max out in the 60s and 70s statewide today, with Mobile having a shot to crack 80 degrees. Today’s forecast highs are at the top of this post.
Low temperatures tonight will fall back into the 40s in north and central Alabama, with low 50s expected in south Alabama. Here are tonight’s forecast lows:
Look for temperatures to gradually rise through the week, with highs reaching the mid-80s in south and central Alabama by the weekend.
