Cooking mix recall: Undeclared ingredient could cause allergic reaction
Georgia-based Homegrown Family Foods is recalling 6-ounce boxes of its Shore Lunch Oven Style Breader & Batter due to the presence of undeclared milk.
According to an announcement from the FDA, the product was distributed in retail stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin between April 29, 2024 and May 1, 2024.
The product comes in boxes marked with Best By dates of April 23 – Feb. 25, 2026. A list of UPC Codes and Best Buy dates is available here.
Someone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could risk a serious life-threatening allergic reaction if they consumed the cooking mix.
So far, one illness has been reported. In April, Homegrown Family Foods was notified by a consumer whose daughter had an allergic reaction.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing the milk ingredient was in packaging that did not properly label the presence of milk.
Consumers who have the affected cooking mix and have a dairy allergy or sensitivity are urged not to consume it and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
For questions, consumers may contact Homegrown Family Foods at 706-403-5768 Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET or email [email protected].
