Comedian Ariel Elias gets beer thrown at her by pro-Trump hecklers, then chugs it
A comedian originally from Kentucky has gone viral after getting a beer thrown at her by supporters of former President Donald Trump at a New Jersey comedy club. Ariel Elias shared video on social media of a woman that asked her if she voted for Trump during a set at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. on Saturday night.
“Why would you ask me that knowing I’m the only Jew in this room? Are you trying to get me killed?” Elias responded. “If it makes you feel any better I vote in New York, my vote doesn’t matter there. Guys, everybody vote for whoever you want to vote for. I don’t care who you voted for, I’m just happy we’re all here together.”
“I could just tell by your jokes you voted for Biden,” the unidentified woman said.
“I can tell by the fact that you’re still talking when nobody wants you to that you voted for Trump,” Elias shot back, prompting loud cheers.
The New York Post reports a man who was allegedly sitting with the woman then threw a beer can at Elias, narrowly missing her and hitting the wall behind her. Elias reacted with shock at first, then picked up the can and drank the rest of the beer as the crowd cheered.
The club’s owner, Dino Ibelli, said the couple quickly left the venue, but he managed to identify them and contacted police, who are reviewing surveillance footage after Ibelli said he wanted to press charges. Meanwhile, other comedians have come out in support of Elias, including Patton Oswalt and Jimmy Kimmel (“five stars for this flawless performance”), and footage of the incident has since been viewed more than 4.5 million times.
