Bowers leads Georgia in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, but another playmaker must step up for Kirby Smart’s squad to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive.

Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz has stepped up in a big way for Florida. Mertz ranks fifth and seventh in the SEC in passing yards and touchdown throws, respectively, and has only two interceptions.

The Gators also have a pair of 400+ yard rushers in Montrell Johnson Jr. and Trevor Etienne, but points won’t come easy against Georgia’s SEC-leading defense. The Bulldogs will also struggle offensively without Bowers in a low-scoring affair that appears to be a closer matchup than the oddsmakers suggest.

College Football Week 9 upset predictions and odds: Kentucky to beat No. 21 Tennessee (+152 or better)

Kentucky has dropped back-to-back games against Georgia and Missouri but got a bye week to prepare for a home showdown vs. Tennessee on Saturday night. Tennessee enters the matchup off a heart-breaking 34-20 loss to Alabama in which the Volunteers blew a 13-point second-half lead.

The Crimson Tide rushed 42 times for 138 yards in the victory, throwing the ball only 21 times. A similar game plan should be in the cards for the Wildcats, who have the SEC’s second-leading rusher in Ray Davis.

The Volunteers’ relentless defensive line has the fifth-most sacks in FBS this season but will have trouble pressuring Devin Leary. Kentucky’s starting QB has benefited from operating behind the Wildcats’ top-tier pass blockers, which will be key in a Kentucky victory.

College Football Week 9 upset predictions and odds: Arizona to beat No. 11 Oregon State (+140 or better)

One of the most surprising teams of the 2023 college football season is 4-3 Arizona. The Wildcats don’t have an eye-popping record but have kept things tight in difficult matchups.

Arizona lost by a touchdown in overtime on the road vs. Mississippi State, fell short to No. 7 Washington by seven points, lost by two points to No. 9 USC in triple overtime, and shellacked No. 19 Washington State 44-6 last week. The Wildcats haven’t faltered in the past three weeks with QB Jayden de Laura sidelined with an injury.

Oregon State’s defense was solid in its opening five games, allowing an average of 15 points. But the unit has fallen off lately, giving up 64 total points to Cal and No. 18 UCLA.

With home-field advantage on Arizona’s side, expect the Cats to continue dominating offensively after earning a season-high 44 points in last week’s victory.
