Texas is back. This time, that’s not just wishful thinking by Longhorn fans.

Since Texas and Alabama played in the national championship game after the 2009 season, both teams have had exactly one 10-win season. The difference is the 10-win season was the high-water mark for Texas, while it was the worst season for Alabama.

That will almost certainly change this year. Texas is already 5-0, with all five victories by at least 10 points. Two of the Longhorns’ toughest games have already been won over ranked opponents Alabama and Kansas.

The tallest hurdle between Texas and an undefeated season comes Saturday against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry.
