College Football Week 12 upset predictions and odds: No. 22 North Carolina to beat Clemson (+255 or better)

It’s not often a top-25 team has +220 moneyline odds vs. an unranked opponent, but Clemson has looked much better in the past two weeks and has home-field advantage in this ACC clash.

The Tigers’ season has been up and down, with losses to Duke, Florida State, Miami, and NC State. UNC has a handful of quality victories, though losses to Virginia and Georgia Tech, who have a combined record of 7-13, sunk the Tar Heels’ postseason aspirations.

North Carolina’s offense has been unstoppable, scoring the eighth-most points in FBS. Defense is UNC’s weakness, coming off a win vs. Duke in which the Tar Heels allowed Duke’s subpar offense to score 45 points without starting QB Riley Leonard.

The Tar Heels D must step up in Week 12 to top Clemson.

College Football Week 12 upset predictions and odds: Kansas to beat No. 23 Kansas State (+310 or better)

Be sure to check Kansas’ injury report before wagering on the Sunflower Showdown. Jayhawks’ QB Jalon Daniels has missed the previous six games with a back injury but has been questionable to play in recent weeks, a sign of improvement.

Backup Jason Bean has been excellent in relief of Daniels, gaining 1,600 total yards and 11 touchdowns. Bean exited at halftime of Kansas’ Week 11 loss with a head injury, and Lance Leipold showed optimism about his chances of taking the field vs. K-State.

If Bean or Daniels can go, the Jayhawks have the personnel to keep up with the Wildcats. Plus, the crowd in Lawrence will give Kansas an edge in the Saturday night matchup at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Kansas State had a rocky start to the year, losing two of its first three games against P5 foes. However, the Wildcats have greatly improved since Week 6, beating every opponent by double digits outside of a 33-30 overtime loss to Texas.

College Football Week 12 upset predictions and odds: Illinois to beat Iowa (+135 or better)

Iowa’s dreadful offense makes them a constant threat to lose. The Hawkeyes’ 18 points per game average is second-worst in the Big Ten, yet Iowa is 8-2 thanks to its top-notch defense.

Illinois had high hopes this season that were quickly extinguished by a 2-4 start to the year. The Illini have looked better recently, notching consecutive victories vs. Minnesota and Indiana.

Illinois averages 23 points scored per week, ranking in the top half of the Big Ten. If the Illini jump out to an early lead, there’s not a P5 team more poorly equipped to mount a comeback than Iowa.
