Alabama is starting the work week off on the warm side, but winter is set to return later this week.

Rain will be possible in the northern part of the state later today and into Tuesday morning, but no severe weather is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures statewide are expected to be very balmy for December. Today’s highs will range from the mid-60s in north Alabama to the mid-70s in south Alabama (see today’s forecast highs at the top of this post).

High temperatures on Tuesday could be a degree or two warmer, with 70s making it all the way into central Alabama. Here’s Tuesday’s forecast:

Wednesday’s temperatures are still expected to be very warm:

But a change will be on the way with a cold front, according to the weather service. So far there are not expected to be any strong storms that come along with it, and the Storm Prediction Center doesn’t have severe weather in the forecast for Alabama.

But it will bring a return to more seasonable temperatures, according to the weather service. That change will be felt in north and central Alabama on Thursday.

On Thursday, north Alabama will have highs in the 50s, while 60s are expected in the southern part of central Alabama and south Alabama.

Temperatures could be a bit cooler in north and north-central Alabama on Friday, while south Alabama will remain on the warm side:

South Alabama will finally see colder temperatures on Saturday, and it will be downright chilly in north and central Alabama as well. Here are Saturday’s forecast high temperatures:
