Clay-Chalkville 4-star lineman plans to announce college choice on Saturday
Jac’Qawn McRoy knows what he’s looking for as his 2024 season landing spot in college
A Clay-Chalkville 4-star offensive lineman who has more than 20 offers, McRoy is listed the state’s No. 11 senior recruit by 247Sports and No. 55 among ESPN300 seniors in the nation.
“I’m looking for a place I can play early,” McRoy said while attending the Southeastern Line Camp on Thursday. “I want good coaching and having a team that believes in you.”
The 6-foot-8, 365-pound McRoy plans to announce his choice on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
He’s narrowed the list to four with Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Oregon. He has offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Louisville, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, UAB and more.
McRoy transferred to Clay-Chalkville from Fairfield before the 2022 season.
“The first time I saw him, he walked in and had to duck to get through my office door,” said Clay-Chalkville coach Drew Gilmer. “I was like, man, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a human that big.
“He’s been with us a little over a year and has come leaps and bounds. He is growing into his body. He probably grew so fast as a young kid. He is just now learning what he has and how to control it and what he is capable of.”
McRoy feels good about the Cougars this season.
“Everything has been good,” he said. “We’ve got a left-handed quarterback so I’ll be protecting his blindside.”
