Class 6A program assessed fines, forfeitures in girls’ basketball and softball
Jasper High School’s girls’ basketball and softball teams have been fined and placed on probation, the AHSAA announced in a release on Thursday.
According to the release, the programs played a student-athlete who did not make a bona fide move and violated the AHSAA Transfer Rule; Jasper self-reported the violations.
The girls’ basketball team must forfeit all games won last season and the softball team will forfeit all games won with participation from the ineligible player.
While the student-athlete would sit out the same number of basketball games (31) and softball games (4) they participated ineligibly when they becomes eligible, they are a senior and unable to serve restitution, which result in an addition $150 fine.
Jasper will pay a total of $300 in fines, according to the release.
