Christmas help sought for Birmingham mother who was shot 4 times over the weekend

Family and friends are rallying around a Birmingham mother who is recovering after she was shot four times over the weekend.

Amber Scott, 33, was injured in the Saturday shooting in west Birmingham. Her 15-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with her when the shooting happened, but the teen was not injured.

A GoFundMe has been launched to help Scott as she continues to recover.

“With this being the holiday season and her not being able to work,’’ the GoFundMe reads, “we would like to raise money for her and her family during this holiday season.”

Scott, 33, had gone to check on a family member who was in a possible domestic argument. When she was leaving, shots rang out.

“I was driving, and they shot inside my car,’’ Scott said.

The shooting happened at 4:12 p.m. at 23rd Place S.W. and South Park Road, according to Birmingham police.

Scott said she didn’t even realize she was hit. Her daughter was the one to tell her.

“It happened so fast,” Scott said. “I started blowing my horn and drove to Piggly Wiggly in West End.

“I didn’t panic,’’ she said. “I have children I had to think about.”

Scott is the mother of four children, ages 15 and under.

Scott was shot in the back, arms, and breast area. No arrests have been announced.

She remains hospitalized with bullet holes in her back, arms and breast area. No formal charges have been announced.
