Chris Stewart reflects on the Brandon Miller block, 3-point sequence: ‘Brandon, you deserve this’
Chris Stewart admits he got a little emotional.
A day after he called No. 1 Alabama’s win over Maryland, the voice of the Crimson Tide explained his call of a pivotal moment of the game took on a larger meaning.

Early in the second half of the game – and the Tide leading – 37-30 – Brandon Miller blocked a Maryland shot only to connect on a 3-pointer in transition on the other end.
As Miller let the 3-pointer go, Stewart said, “Brandon, you deserve this. … Bottom!”
“In the moment, I was talking about that sequence,” Stewart tweeted Sunday. “But, as I said it, I heard it, and got a little emotional thinking about everything, in a much larger sense. Happy for Brandon and all of this team and coaching staff.”
The 3-pointer was one of the two out of the six the freshman attempted Saturday. He finished with 19 points.
Alabama and Miller got off to a slow start, but the All-America freshman and top NBA prospect wound up with a more typical performance after going scoreless in the first-round game. Miller has been nursing a groin injury and missed his first nine shots of the tournament.
Alabama faces a San Diego State team making its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2004, which was also the year of the Tide’s only Elite Eight run. The Crimson Tide have never reached the Final Four.
