Chris Fowler to remain with ESPN amid layoffs, per report
Amid ESPN layoffs, Chris Fowler isn’t going anywhere, according to the New York Post.
However, the college football play-by-play man won’t receive the big raise he sought.
Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports that Fowler, who just reached a 10-year, $30 million deal, was looking for a raise. As it stands, Fowler will remain on as ESPN’s No. 1 college football and tennis play-by-player, but without the financial bump he was looking for.
ESPN layoffs are part are a part of Disney’s plan to cut 7,000 jobs across the company.
On Monday, Mike Soltys, vice president of communications, tweeted he was a casualty of the layoffs. He had been with the company since 1979.
The Wall Street Journal reports Russell Wolff, the executive vice president and GM of ESPN+, was also let go.
According to The Post, ESPN is rewarding others like Marcus Spears, who recently signed a four-year deal worth almost $2 million a year.
