Chocolate recall reaches ‘highest risk level:’ products sold in 9 states
Three chocolate products have been recalled due to the presence of an undeclared allergen, the Food and Drug Administration announced.
A recall of products from California-based Cal Yee Farms was first announced in December 2024 due to undeclared ingredients, including milk, soy, wheat, sesame, almonds and FD&C No. 6. This week, the recall was upgrades for three products – Dark Chocolate Almonds, Dark Chocolate Apricots and Dark Chocolate Walnuts – due to the presence of undeclared milk.
Those products are now listed as a Class 1 recall, meaning there is a “situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” for those with sensitivities to the ingredients.
The products were distributed in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Tennessee, Texas, Ohio, Oregon and Pennsylvania, as well online at www.calyeefarms.com. Each of the items were packaged in clear plastic zippered pouches in either 8 oz., 1 pound, 2 pound or 5 pound sizes with a bright yellow label identifying the product on the front. You can see a complete list of product numbers here.
The company said no illnesses linked to the products have been reported to date, Newsweek reported.
People with the products are advised to return them to the place of purchase or dispose of them.
