Aqua-Tots Swim School is opening its 147th worldwide location, and first in Alabama, Monday.

Located in Hoover at 1694 Montgomery Hwy., Suite 144, Aqua-Tots Hoover is a 6,000-square-foot swim school owned and operated by franchisee and Birmingham native, Dave Dunlap.

Aqua-Tots’ curriculum is designed for children four months to 12 years old, with year-round swim classes and convenient make-up lessons. The curriculum is used to teach more than five million swim lessons every year.

“Birmingham is home for me; always has been and always will be,” Dunlap said. “Unfortunately, in our area, swim lessons have only been offered during summer months, often with limited capacity, and usually in backyard or recreational pools. We saw an opportunity to make an immediate impact on our community and shift the idea of water safety from simply a summertime activity to a year-round priority. It’s an honor to bring the first Aqua-Tots in Alabama to Birmingham.”

Aqua-Tots Hoover is now open Monday through Saturday, and features small group, semi-private and private lessons as well as Parent & Tot swim classes for babies four to 30 months old.

Families are encouraged to save their spot in lessons as the program gears up for the busy spring and summer season.
