Child rushed to hospital after found unresponsive in pool at east Birmingham home

A child was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon after being found unresponsive in a pool.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched about 3 p.m. to a home on Charles Court in the Roebuck area.

Fire medics began CPR on the scene and then rushed the 12-year-old to Children’s of Alabama. The child was in critical condition at the time of transport.

BFRS Battalion Chief Jack Hickes said the incident happened in an above-ground pool at a private home.
