Check your freezer: Public health alert issued for snack food
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is issuing a public health alert for frozen not-ready-to-eat ham croquettes due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
The recall covers 1.96-lb. boxes of the ham croquettes with the label “Ham Croquettes Las que si tienen el sabor cubano a Taste of Cuba Croquetas de jamon.”
The products have expiration dates of “November 2025,” “December 2025” and “January 2026” printed on the boxes.
According to an alert from the agency, the product contains soy and sesame that are not declared on the product label. People who are allergic to soy and sesame should not eat the croquettes.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an adverse reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
The FSIS did not issue a recall because the item is no longer available for purchase but could still be in people’s freezers. The product was shipped to distributor locations in Florida.
Customers should throw away the product or return it to retailers for a refund.
