2 Players in major-college football history have scored more points than Alabama K Will Reichard, who holds the record for career points by a kicker. With 509 points, Reichard trails QB Keenan Reynolds, who scored 530 points for Navy from 2012 through 2015, and RB Kenneth Dixon, who scored 522 points for TCU from 2012 through 2015.
3 Games in Alabama on Chattanooga’s schedule this season. The Mocs lost 41-27 at North Alabama in their season-opener on Sept. 2 and won 47-24 at Samford on Sept. 30.
10 TDs have been accounted for by Alabama QB Jalen Milroe in the past two games. Milroe ran for four TDs in a 42-28 victory over LSU on Nov. 4 and ran for three TDs and passed for three TDs in a 49-21 victory over Kentucky on Nov. 11.
12 Seasons were spent by Alabama as a member of the Southern Conference, the league home for Chattanooga since the Mocs joined in 1976. The SEC held its first football season in 1933 after the Southern Conference members west and south of the Appalachian Mountains left the league to form the new conference. Alabama had been a charter member of the Southern in 1921, joining Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Washington & Lee in leaving the 30-member Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association to form the league. The Southern later picked up Duke, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Sewanee, South Carolina, Tulane and Vanderbilt as members before the SEC split. Alabama won 20 straight Southern conference games while posting undefeated league records in 1924, 1925 and 1926. The Southern gave birth to another major conference in 1953 when seven schools left to form the ACC.

13 Victories for Alabama in 13 games against Chattanooga. Alabama has played more games against the Mocs without a loss or a tie than any other opponent. The Crimson Tide has outscored Chattanooga 494-71 in the series. The teams most recently met in 2016, when Alabama posted a 31-3 victory.
14 Of Alabama’s past 15 schedules, including the 2023 slate, have included an NCAA FCS opponent, with Chattanooga filling the role this season. The exception came in 2020, when the Crimson Tide played only SEC opponents during the regular season to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Thirteen of the FCS teams served as the opponent in Alabama’s game before the Iron Bowl. The Tide has an 18-0 record against NCAA FCS opponents since 1978, when the NCAA divided Division I football into the Division I-A and Division I-AA.

Alabama’s 21-14 setback against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 17, 2007, was its most recent loss in the game before the Iron Bowl. That was the final defeat in a five-year losing streak for Alabama in the game preceding the Iron Bowl. The other four losses came against LSU. The Tide played Mississippi State in 2008, Kentucky in 2020 and Arkansas in 2021 in the game before facing Auburn. In the other games in the winning streak, Alabama defeated non-conference opponents — Chattanooga and Western Carolina three times apiece and Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Charleston Southern, Mercer, the Citadel and Austin Peay once each.
15 Consecutive seasons with at least 10 victories for Alabama, the major-college record for consecutive seasons with double-digit victories. The Crimson Tide could extend its streak to 16 seasons on Saturday. In 2022, Alabama broke the record for consecutive 10-win seasons that Florida State established from 1987 through 2000. Alabama most recently failed to win 10 games in a season in 2007, when the Tide went 7-6. Alabama won 12 games in 2008, 14 in 2009, 10 in 2010, 12 in 2011, 13 in 2012, 11 in 2013, 12 in 2014, 14 in 2015, 14 in 2016, 13 in 2017, 14 in 2018, 11 in 2019, 13 in 2020, 13 in 2021 and 11 in 2022.

65 Years since Chattanooga beat an SEC team. The Mocs upended Tennessee 14-6 in 1958 but have lost their past 56 games against SEC opponents to drop their record against the conference to 3-92. Chattanooga’s other two victories over SEC opponents came in the same month in the 1945 season, when it beat Vanderbilt 13-6 on Nov. 10 and Ole Miss 31-6 on Nov. 29. Since the formation of the SEC in 1933, Chattanooga has played 13 opponents while they were league members, including former members Georgia Tech and Tulane. The Mocs have not played Florida, Missouri or Texas A&M.
76 Receiving yards are needed by WR Jamoi Mayes to become the fifth Chattanooga player with 1,000 in a season. Whatley has 53 receptions for 924 yards and four TDs in 2023.
306 Games have been played by Alabama since it was most recently shut out. Alabama’s scoring streak is the third-longest in SEC history and tied for the 12th-longest in major-college football history. Alabama’s most recent shutout loss came 9-0 to Auburn on Nov. 18, 2000. Air Force also scored in 306 consecutive games from 1993 through 2017.
353 All-purpose yards for Chattanooga WR Javin Whatley in a 52-50 loss to Western Carolina on Oct. 7 to set a school single-game record. Whatley had 11 receptions for 231 yards and four TDs, returned five kickoffs for 116 yards and ran for 6 yards against the Catamounts. Whatley has 44 receptions for 802 yards and eight TDs, 15 kickoff returns for an average of 22.9 yards and three rushing attempts for 9 yards in 2023.
