Charlotte Hornets have seen enough of Brandon Miller
The Charlotte Hornets have seen enough of Brandon Miller in offseason action. On Thursday, the NBA team announced Miller would not play in the Hornets’ two remaining games in the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas.
Miller joined Charlotte as the second selection in the NBA Draft on June 22.
The announcement came after Miller scored 26 points in the Hornets’ 97-93 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night in the NBA Summer League.
The former Alabama All-American played in two games in the California Classic and three games in the NBA Summer League in July. He averaged 15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Miller made 24-of-63 shots, including 10-of-32 on 3-pointers, and 18-of-23 free-throw attempts.
Charlotte lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 89-83 on Thursday night without Miller in uniform.

The third selection in last year’s draft also might be finished playing in the Summer League. Reports indicate the Houston Rockets have pulled former Auburn standout Jabari Smith, although the NBA team has not announced that.
Smith started 79 games as a rookie last season and scored 33 points, including a buzzer-beating 3, in a 100-99 victory over the Trail Blazers and 38 points in a 113-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons in the Rockets’ first two Summer League games.
Smith did not play in Houston’s 105-92 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday or the 118-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
The Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers are the only teams to go 4-0 in Summer League play, with the Utah Jazz at 3-0 entering Friday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns. Houston is in position to play in Monday night’s Summer League championship game, but could be overtaken by Utah in the standings.
