Charles Barkley lost how much weight? And his go-to playlist of country music may surprise you

If anything, Charles Barkley will answer whatever questions you ask him.

The “Inside the NBA” analyst was in attendance at the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament at Greystone in Hoover on Wednesday.

In a sense, it was like watching an NFL player during Super Bowl media days. Some related questions. And, well, some not-so related.

For instance, he was asked about the state of college athletics, including NIL. He let everyone know he thinks the NCAA “is a bunch of idiots.”

What about his current musical playlist?

Well, the former Auburn star is in what he calls a “country music stage.” His go-to right now, for those wondering are country music star Kane Brown and iconic duo Dan + Shay, which he said is his “hot group.”

What about Barkley’s weight? He was told he looked good Wednesday.

“I’m down about 50 pounds. I want to lose another 50,” Barkley said, revealing he gained 100 pounds after hip surgery.

The target weight, he said, is 270 pounds.

He said he is taking Zepbound, a prescription medication used for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight.

“Dr. (James) Andrews told me – I know a lot of fat, old people – to get my fat a– in shape,” Barkley said. “I’m really working hard on it right now.”
