Charles Barkley critiques Kaitlan Collins’ March Madness bracket, thanks Nick Saban for retiring
There’s nothing like an Auburn and Alabama fan trading some playful jabs on national television.
Former Auburn star Charles Barkley joined CNN anchor and Alabama fan Kaitlan Collins to talks March Madness. The NBA analyst also critiqued Collins’ NCAA Tournament bracket. It went how you would expect.
The NCAA Tournament, Barkley said, is second only to the Olympics when it comes to the best sporting event he has ever been a part of.
“That’s because Auburn hasn’t been to many national championships on the football side, right?” Collins quipped.
“Y’all not going anymore,” Barkley said of the Crimson Tide. “Thank you, (former Alabama) coach (Nick) Saban. Thank you for retiring. You are the greatest coach ever. Thank you for retiring. Should have come down to the part we were having at Auburn.”
There was plenty of playful banter.
Collins has Auburn, a No. 4 seed, losing in the second round to San Diego State.
“That just means you’re wrong,” Barkley countered.
The Round Mound of Rebound predicts a Sweet 16 for Bruce Pearl’s Tigers.
“We going to play UConn,” he said. “We’re going to beat Yale. We’re always going to beat the smart kids. Then, we’re probably going to beat San Diego State.”
Meanwhile, Collins has Alabama advancing to the Elite 8 after beating Charleston, St. Mary’s and North Carolina before falling to Arizona.
“I have them losing to St. Mary’s,” Barkley said of Alabama. “St. Mary’s has been one of the best kept secrets in college basketball for the last 10 or 15 years. They just couldn’t beat Gonzaga. They finally beat them this year. … Alabama’s got a bunch of a little dudes out there running around shooting 3s. …
“(St. Mary’s) won’t be physically intimidated by Alabama.”
