Charles Barkley: Biden, Democrats ‘only care about Black people every 4 years’

Charles Barkley, if anything, is consistent.

As the country readies for President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, the NBA analyst once again declared the Democratic party is losing the Black vote because “they only care about Black people every four years.”

For years, the Alabama native was linked to a possible run at governor of the Yellowhammer State. To that point, Barkley has been outspoken over the years about politics.

“The reason I think the Democratic party and President Biden is losing Black votes is they only care about Black people every four years,” Barkley said on “King Charles” on CNN. “They come into our neighborhoods and say, ‘We’re going to make stuff better. We’re going to do this and this.’ Finally, Black people are like, ‘Man, other than my ability to dunk a basketball, all my neighborhoods are the same. Our schools are the same. That’s why Black people are leaving disappointed in the Democratic Party.”

He re-iterated he always voted Democrat because he thought it was going to help Black people and poor people.

“Black People and poor White people are in the same boat,” he said.

Earlier this week, the NBA analyst, it was reported, said he would punch any Black person who wears a Donald Trump mugshot shirt.

Congressman Wesley Hunt, a combat veteran, took to social media Tuesday to shed some “context” on the topic at hand, suggesting the former president won’t punch him.

“Charles Barkley fell into the media’s trap by taking a two-hour speech from President Trump out of context,” Hunt posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

In 2008, the former Auburn star announced he would run for governor in 2014 but changed his mind two years later.

“I think both of these parties are crap,” Barkley said in 2020. “They do nothing for actual people. The Democrats and Republicans are both full of crap. You see now with this pandemic. They aren’t doing anything for these people.”
