Center Point woman killed, 2 teens injured in Blount County crash
A Center Point woman was killed in a Blount County crash that also injured two teens.
Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Zyra C. Sharpe. She was 37.
The wreck happened at 6:25 p.m. Saturday on Old Compton Road near Red Valley Road, about four miles south of Remlap, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.
Zyra Sharpe was a passenger in a 2005 Honda Accord that left the road and struck multiple trees. Bailey said she was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was partially ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver, 19-year-old Abel Sharpe, also of Center Point, was injured and taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
An 18-year-old passenger, whose name has not been released, was taken to another hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
