I believe that one of the most notable inventions for the Alabama outdoorsmen is the cell phone. Hear me out on this one. It has many uses including GPS, the ability to call for help, apps that allow you to record your deer and turkey kills and on and on.

For me, I love having a cell phone with me because it puts a manageable camera in my hands without having to drag a bulky camera along with me.

Many of my more than 40 years of writing about the outdoors was done before cell phones with cameras. I think back on so many times a camera would have allowed to tell a story that many would have not believed, or allowed me to share an awe-inspiring photograph.
