The Boston Celtics entered as the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and easily won their first round series against the Miami Heat. In all four of the Celtics victories, they defeated the Heat by at least 14 points. Additionally, the Celtics scored at least 101 points in all of their postseason games thus far. They have an explosive offense that could easily make it to the NBA Finals this year.

The Celtics have three players averaging more than 21 points per game this postseason: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White. Tatum and Brown are the two Celtics stars that have led the team for numerous years, but White greatly improved his play during their first round series. He was only averaging about 15 points per game during the regular season, and he increased that to more than 22 points per game against the Heat. During game 4, White shot nearly 60% from the field and scored 38 points to give the Celtics a 3-1 series lead. If Tatum and Brown continue to receive this much help from their supporting cast, then they are going to be nearly impossible to defeat.

The Cavaliers are coming off a seven game series against the fifth seeded Orlando Magic. During that series, the Cavaliers were 4-0 at home and 0-3 on the road. Although it is important to win at home in the playoffs, the Celtics are the higher seed and will have the extra home game. So, the Cavaliers have to win a playoff game on the road in order to have a chance at making it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Star shooting guard Donovon Mitchell carried the Cavaliers offense throughout their seven game battle, as he averaged more than 28 points per game. This includes Mitchell’s dominant 50 point effort in game 6, which the Cavaliers ended up losing. So, Mitchell will need other teammates to step up and score some points to compete in their second round series against the Celtics. Specifically, point guard Darius Garland and power forward Evan Mobley need to play better and remain consistent. Both players are below their regular season averages for points, making it difficult for the Cavaliers to consistently score.

The first game of this second round series is available for everyone to watch for free by utilizing the free trial offered by DirecTV Stream. Alternatively, fans can get a discounted Sling subscription to watch all the NBA action tonight.
