NFL Week 6 Cardinals vs. Rams odds preview

The Cardinals (1-4) are at the bottom of the NFC West and looking up at the Rams (2-3), who are currently in third place. The Cards would love nothing more than to pull even and make some progress toward getting out of last place in the division, while the Rams need a win to stay competitive with the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks, who are in second place in the division. The game is slated for a 3:25 p.m. CT kickoff on October 15.

The Cardinals had their hands full in Week 5 with the Cincinnati Bengals, who dominated the time of possession in the 34-20 decision while holding Arizona quarterback Joshua Dobbs to 166 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a pick-six.

Defensively, the Cardinals have had troubles against the pass, allowing an average of 7.2 yards per play and giving up eight passing scores. They have held opponents to 4.2 yards per rushing play for an average of 5.5 yards per play so far this season.

The Cards need to focus on getting to Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and not let him have time in the pocket, or they’ll end up carved up like they did against Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

The Rams kept things somewhat tight against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles but ultimately fell, 23-14, in their Week 5 matchup. Stafford threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns, finding Cooper Kupp eight times for 118 of those yards. Rookie Puka Nacua caught seven passes for 71 yards and a score.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams will need to work on getting to the quarterback more often than they have in the past games, as they are totaling just eight sacks so far this year. They are allowing 5.3 yards per play on average and have given up 10 total touchdowns, six of which have come on the ground.

NFL Week 6 Cardinals vs. Rams best game bet: Over 48.5 points (-110)

Neither defense between the Rams and the Cardinals will be completely dominant in this matchup, so expect both teams to find the endzone more than a couple of times. With Stafford and the Rams able to put up points and Dobbs capable of leading his team to the endzone as well, this game likely won’t be a low-scoring affair.

The Rams are averaging 22.4 points per game but haven’t scored less than 29 in either of their two wins. The Cardinals, on the other hand, are averaging 21.6 points per game. They’ve scored 28 points twice this season and have proven capable of scoring points even in a loss.

NFL Week 6 Cardinals vs. Rams best player props: Cooper Kupp over 86.5 yards receiving (-119 or better)

Kupp has finally returned from his hamstring injury, and he’s already back on track to be Stafford’s favorite target. In their loss against Philadelphia, Kupp was targeted 12 times, of which he caught eight for 118 yards (14.8 yards per catch average).

There’s no reason to expect the Cardinals will have any more success than the Eagles did when it comes to shutting Kupp down this week, so expect him to surpass the projected mark of 86.5 yards.
