Candy, dog food, cream cheese: Here’s a list of items being recalled this month

The Food and Drug Administration and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) have issued at least 10 food recalls this month.

So far, the recalls include pasta salad, an assortment of candy mixes, and cheese spread.

Newsweek has compiled a list of food items that have been pulled off the shelves as of May 18.

  • Palmer Candy Company: Multiple products, including Caramel Swirl Pretzels and Cookies & Cream Yummy Chow, because of a potential salmonella contamination.
  • Mars Petcare US: Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak and Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food. Recall on the 44-pound bag size only due to the potential presence of loose metal pieces in the bag. The affected products have a Best By Date of March 4, 2025 and Lot Code 410B2TXT02.
  • Sun Noodle: S&S Cup Saimin because they may contain undeclared egg white powder. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg, run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, the FDA warned.
  • United Supermarkets: Chocolate Caramel Corn and Candy Tray due to a possible salmonella contamination.
  • Reser’s Fine Foods: Aldi Deli Macaroni Salad due to an incorrect label. The product has a labeling error that does not include an allergen callout for wheat.
  • Natural Sourcing International: Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds due to a possible salmonella contamination. The seeds were sold at Walmart.
  • Megadyne Medical Products Inc.: Megadyne Mega Soft Pediatric Patient Return Electrodes because the company “received reports of patient burn injuries.” Injuries could be more likely in cases involving infants and small children, the FDA said.
  • Western Mixers Produce and Nuts: Yogurt Covered Pretzels due to possible salmonella contamination.
  • Healthwest Minerals, Inc. Mt. Capra Products: Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit as the FDA “is concerned that the formula does not meet all FDA requirements for infant formula.” According to the FDA, 1,506 boxes of the kits were recalled. The FDA said does not provide sufficient nutrition when used as an infant formula, and the storage instructions may be insufficient for the product.
  • FoodScience, LLC: Amyloid Complete as it may contain undeclared shellfish, which can be dangerous to people who are allergic to it. The product was distributed nationwide online through iHerb.com and fullscripts.com and direct delivery.
  • Hy-Vee Inc: Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread “out of an abundance of caution due to the potential for contamination with salmonella”. Hy-Vee is also recalling its bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix due to salmonella concerns.
  • Hormel Foods Sales, LLC: Two Planters products were recalled because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. The products were shipped to Publix distribution warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina and to Dollar Tree distribution warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia. The recalled product is limited to 4 oz. packages of Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts and 8.75 oz. cans of Planters Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts.
  • Chuao Chocolatier: Potato Chip mini bar because some packages may contain undeclared hazelnut which can be dangerous for people who have nut allergies. People who are sensitive or have allergies to hazelnut could be at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product, the FDA said.
